I was raised in a "religious" home...but mostly we attended on Easter and
Christmas Eve service. "Works" and "the church" was the way to salvation in
this denomination. I couldn't wait to get married some day and not have to go
anymore and that is what I did... I married a man who belonged to a Christian
church but did not attend... after three years of marriage, and not a good
start to say the least, one of the pastor's from the church my husband belonged
to kept "popping" up... Everywhere... and he ever so gently would invite us to
church....I would say to my husband, "Does he have ANYTHING else to talk about
besides coming to church and Jesus???" But it was like when Fred Flintstone
went on that diet and Barney made a pledge to him that he would do whatever he
could to help him on this diet and Barney would pop up everywhere... EVEN in
the refrigerator!!!!!
Well, this guy, Denny, would be everywhere....
one of these times he invited us to the church revival. This was Easter week of
1975. During this week the visiting pastor had led my father-in-law and my
brother-in-law to the Lord... That Easter morning in 1975, after hearing a
dynamic message, I RAN down that aisle to accept the Lord as my savior. After a
few minutes, I noticed that my sister was down there too. We were ALL baptized,
including my husband, sister, brother-in-law, and father-in-law on Easter
Sunday 1975. God had just begun a new work in my life... Little did I know what
the enemy was going to try to do to rob that of me....
26 years later, I
can honestly say that everything that has been thrown in front of us has been
worth it and GOD TRULY KEEPS HIS PROMISES...He has NEVER left me or forsaken me
throughout this whole time.. I have left him but He never let go of me. I can't
imagine my life without Him. My main theme is if there are any family members
out there that you are praying for to come to the Lord... NEVER give up !!! The
Lord will answer your prayers !!! And just keep talkin' about Jesus everywhere
you go...Read the Word daily and get the strength you need to sustain in this
world we live in. If Denny had not kept "talking Jesus" to my husband and I, we
may not have ever heard the Truth that set us FREE!!!!
In Christ..
